  • Improved Matrix Orbital display support
  • Added display auto-detection for Matrix Orbital displays

Improvements in version 3.1.0.4:

  • Added auto-configuration code for USB based Crystalfontz and Matrix Orbital displays
  • Fixed a bug that caused configuration settings to be lost after an upgrade. NOTE: This fix will work for upgrades to future versions and will NOT preserve the settings from versions before 3.1.0.4. In order to preserve your current settings, please backup FrontViewCfg.xml from the program directory and restore it after the upgrade.
  • Changed default backlight and contrast settings for Crystalfontz displays - the new settings follow the recommendations from Crystalfontz
  • Fixed several key handling bugs in the configuration app

Improvements in version 3.0.0.9:

  • Fixed a problem in 3.0.0.8 that might prevent an upgrade from previous versions in some cases

Improvements in version 3.0.0.8:

  • Fixed a bug with the Crystalfontz plug-in that caused the service to use ~95% of the CPU
  • Improved the scrolling code to be more efficient
  • Fixed a bug with the iMon plug-in that would potentially cause the selected display to be lost when rebooting

Improvements in version 3.0.0.7:

  • Added support for several new displays and improved reliability of existing displays including:
    • Crystalfontz 631, 632, 633, 634 and 635 LCDs
    • iMon VFDs
    • Hitachi 44780 two- and four-line VFDs
    • Matrix Orbital VFDs
  • Improved the display configuration process with a new ‘Test’ feature that helps configure most display types.
  • The FrontView display engine now runs as a service so it is available to drive the display even when Media Center is not running.  It also allows FrontView to work with user accounts that don’t have admin privileges.
  • Added support for display plug-ins that make it easy for third-party programmers to support their custom LCDs.  An SDK will be available to document this plug-in architecture.  Links to display plug-ins will be provided as they become available.
  • Added support for third-party application plug-ins which can run completely independent of Media Center.  The priorities and macros for these sessions can be modified directly from within the configuration app.  An SDK will be available to document this plug-in architecture.
  • New ‘global’ macros can be used from any session and can also be provided by third-party plug-ins.
  • Created a new configuration app that gives access to several new features:
    • All available macros are now accessible and several new ones have been added
    • Sessions can be configured to be hidden if they are inactive for a specified amount of time
    • Sessions can be configured to only be displayed if they are in specific states

Improvements in version 2.04:

  • Added support for Crystalfontz 631 controllers
  • Added support for adjusting the backlight brightness of the Crystalfontz LCDs
  • Temporarily disabled the USB option since it isn't working correctly - it should be fixed soon since I now have some test LCDs
  • Fixed COM port configuration bug
  • Fixed the system hang when ScrollDelay is set to 0
  • User no longer has to be running in an Administrator account for FrontView to work (Needs to be an administrator for the first time only.)
  • Added code to allow future upgrades that won't require a reboot
  • Added a new "Slow Controller" configuration setting to take care of some problems with parallel port VFDs
  • Added support for serial-based Noritake LCDs
  • A new install has been written by Hilko Lantinga
